Acne is a skin disease, which occurs when the skin follicles are blocked. When the sebaceous glands are blocked then the natural oil and dead skin cells get inflamed. This causes redness and results in pigmentation. This is a skin problem, with a lot of reddishness accompanied by scales. Blackheads, whiteheads, pimples and lot of inflammation are typical signs of acne. It usually starts with blackheads. Blackheads form when the dead cells accompanied with oil are trapped in the pores of the skin. Due to exposure to the atmosphere, they become black. Pimples are inflamed blackheads. Therefore, we can avoid acne if the blackheads are treated. There are some basic home remedies for acne. The following are some acne home remedies:
- Vitamins: There are some vitamins like Vitamin A, B and E, and B complex, which are good acne cures. Besides, thyme, tea tree oil, zinc also help to reduce acne marks.
- Carbohydrate foods: A diet with a very low glycemic index helps to reduce acne.
- Paste: Nutmeg paste applied with milk is one of the fantastic acne home remedies.
- Honey paste: A mixture of honey and cinnamon powder applied at night is a good cure for the pimples. The next morning wash it with warm water. If you repeat this, for a couple of weeks, the face can be protected from pimples permanently.
- Garlic: Fresh garlic on pimples is good to remove pimple marks.
- Papaya juice: Juice of raw papaya with its skin and seed is good to reduce the swelling on the pimples.
- Lime juice: A mixture of lime juice and boiled milk is good as a face wash. If washed, then the pimples, blackheads, cracked skin etc disappear.
- Vegetable pulp: A paste of cucumber pulp is good to keep the pimples cool.
- Fruit pulp: A paste of pomegranate peel with fresh lime juice is good for boils, acne etc. The pomegranate should be roasted, powdered, and mixed with the juice.
- Potato juice: Potato juice is good for cleaning blemishes on the skin.
- Radish seeds: Radish seeds are ground with water. This is then applied on the face .This removes blackheads.
- Sesame seeds: These seeds are good cleansers for skin eruptions and skin inflammations. They clear the rashes, pimples, and acne.
- Orange peel: Orange peel mixed with water applied on the face, cleans the acne marks. We should wash this off after some time.
- Vinegar: Vinegar mixed with salt is a good medicine for pimples. Wash the paste off after half an hour of application.
- Mint: Fresh mint juice is a good preventive measure for pimples and acne. It is also good for eczema, scabies and other such skin infections.
- Wheat grass is a good anti toxin. It helps to remove acne.
- A paste made with egg yolk proves a good mask. It helps in removing the excess oil in the skin. This is what is responsible for problems like acne. Apply egg yolk paste on oily spots on the face. It is a good cure. Leave this on the face for some time and then wash off with cold water.
Home Remedies for Acne on Scalp
There is no difference between acne home remedies for the face and the acne home remedies for scalp. The treatment is the same. Any of the above remedies is a good way of treating it. Besides this, we could also do the following:
- When a cotton ball dipped in a skin cleanser containing salicylic acid is applied on the scalp then it does a good job as a treatment for acne on scalp.
- It is advisable not to apply any acne cream having benzoil peroxide or any other peroxide components. This could cause a change in the color of the hair.
- A mixture of tea tree oil and lavender oil in olive oil is a good lotion to be applied on the scalp. This works as a good shampoo. This is also a good treatment if the scalp is having any kind of infection.
Thus, it is seen that acne is a problem of the skin caused due to many factors. The person inflicted with acne should thus also know that diet plays an important role in curing the problem. Thus, a well balanced diet should be maintained with focus on consumption of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts etc. A week long fruit diet followed by a cereal diet does good to start the process of treatment for acne.
