Bruise Treatment – Treat those bruises right!

Bruises are damaged blood vessels caused by injuries or abuse. They could be minor bruises seen as purple patches or major bruises which could be life threatening. A bruise could take a week to get better. If it still persists it should be consulted by a doctor. Bruises could appear on hands, legs, fingers and toes. Bruise treatment should be taken very seriously if it appears on the head, eyes and sensitive parts of the skin.

When bruised, the area of the wound should be first cleaned. If the skin is damaged apply an antibiotic, if there is bleeding on the surface one should consult a doctor. Usually tetanus injection is given if it is an open wound. Medically a bruise is referred to as a contusion. Attention should be given if there is continuous bleeding, numbness or weakness. The immediate bruise treatment for contusion would be “RICE “Rest, Ice, Compress, and Elevate. The bruise will change color from red to purple; this discoloration will persist for several days or weeks.

There are many remedies for local bruise treatment; they includes home or natural remedies. Intake of citrus fruits, broccoli and vitamin K in your diet helps reduce the blood vessels from getting damaged. According to an old natural remedy cabbage juice can be applied on the bruise, since it will help in the faster recovery of the wound. It contains anti- inflammatory compounds. Parsley is another herb that could be used in bruise treatments; it contains therapeutic qualities for wound healing. If pain is felt due to the bruises, cut a slice of onion and place it on the wounded area. Arnica is an anti inflammatory and antiseptic cream which could also be used. It is a very effective homeopathic treatment. These are some good ways for bruising treatment.

Natural treatment of bruises are very effective but very basic. Just placing the hand on the bruised area and by gently rubbing in a clockwise and anticlockwise manner would improve the blood circulation. Ice-packs would also give good relief. Mild Bruises are not to be worried about, natural and homemade treatments are sufficient. It is not necessary to hit the panic button for frequent bruises. If diabetic, it is very necessary to consult a doctor and get a proper prescription.

Other treatment of bruises would be rubbing an uncooked egg over the bruised area to increase the blood flow. Applying ginger, tea bags, eating garlic, Apple cider vinegar all this will help in the healing process. Prevent taking painkiller frequently. Bruises are commonly seen in people with vitamin k deficiency and those who take long term drugs such as quinine, chlorothiazide and warfarin. Avoid taking blood-thinning medication for faster relief and speedy recovery. Add vitamin C capsules or citrus fruits to your everyday diet, to prevent your blood vessels form getting damaged easily.
